What is an AI visibility checker?

An AI visibility checker tests whether AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name your business when someone asks them for a recommendation. It runs the questions your customers actually ask, records which businesses get named, and reports how often you appear.

A traditional SEO tool measures where your pages sit in Google's results. That is a different question. An AI visibility checker measures whether an assistant names your business at all when a buyer asks it who to hire.

You can rank on page one and still be absent from every AI answer, because the model reads and repeats sources rather than listing links. This scan looks at both sides: what your site makes readable, and what the engines actually say.

How do I check if my business shows up in AI search?

Enter your website address above. The scan checks your site's technical setup, then asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity ten questions your customers ask before hiring someone in your area. It records which businesses each engine names and how often yours appears.

    1. Enter your URL, city and industry in the form above.
    2. Get your technical score on screen, with no email.
    3. Unlock the AI answer test with a work email.
    4. Get your report with pillar scores, competitors and quick wins.

Is this AI visibility check really free?

Yes. Your technical visibility score appears immediately with no email required. The AI answer test — which shows which competitors get recommended instead of you — needs a work email so we can send you the report. There is no payment step and no trial.

Why doesn't ChatGPT recommend my business?

The three most common reasons are that your site blocks AI crawlers in robots.txt, usually without the owner knowing; that your pages have no structured business data, so AI can't confirm what you do or where; and that your content doesn't answer the questions buyers actually ask in a format an AI can quote.

Blocked crawlers. Many sites disallow GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot in robots.txt, often left over from a developer's default settings. If the crawler can't read the page, the model has nothing of yours to repeat. The scan reads your robots.txt and reports each bot.

No structured data. Without business schema, an assistant has no confirmed record of what you do, where you work or how to reach you. The scan checks which schema types are present.

Content that can't be quoted. Pages written as brochure copy give a model nothing to lift. Answering real buyer questions in plain sentences does. That is the work we cover in answer engine optimisation, and the scan grades your pages on it.

What does the AI visibility report include?

The report gives you an overall visibility score out of 61, your four pillar scores, your AI mention rate across three engines, a competitor leaderboard, your detected technology stack, and a prioritised quick-wins list with effort estimates.

    • Overall visibility score out of 61
    • Four pillar scores
    • AI mention rate across three engines
    • Competitor leaderboard showing who gets named instead of you
    • Your detected technology stack — the CMS, analytics and tracking we can see, which is where ongoing website management usually starts
    • Prioritised quick-wins list with effort estimates

Which AI search engines does this check?

The free scan tests OpenAI's models, Google Gemini and Perplexity, using their APIs with live web search enabled. It also checks whether your robots.txt allows or blocks the crawlers used by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google and Bing.

One honesty note, the same one the report carries: API responses approximate the consumer apps but do not match them exactly. Treat the mention rate as a directional measure of how often you get named, not a guarantee of what one person sees in ChatGPT today.

How is this different from a free SEO audit?

A traditional SEO audit tells you how your site ranks in Google. This checks something Google rankings don't measure: whether an AI assistant names your business when someone asks it for a recommendation. It covers both — the technical foundation an SEO audit would check, plus the AI answer test that SEO tools don't run.

The technical pillar covers the ground a normal audit covers: crawlability, page speed, titles, headings, internal links and schema. If you want that side handled as ongoing work, read how we approach search engine optimisation.

    Frequently asked questions

How long does the AI visibility check take?

The technical part takes about 60 seconds and your score appears on screen. The AI answer test runs a set of live queries across three engines, so the full report reaches your inbox shortly after you submit your email.

Do I need to give you access to my website?

No. The scan reads your public pages the same way a search engine or AI crawler does. There is no plugin, no login and no code to install.

What happens after I get my report?

You get a prioritised list of fixes with effort estimates, so you can hand it to whoever manages your site. If you want us to walk through it, you can book a free audit call and we go through the findings line by line.

Does this work for any type of business?

It works for any business with a website. It is most useful for local service businesses where customers ask AI for a recommendation before calling — roofing, HVAC, solar, dental and medical practices, law firms, and home services generally.

How often should I check my AI visibility?

Quarterly is enough for most businesses, since AI answers shift as models and their web indexes update. Run it again after any site rebuild, migration or robots.txt change.
